It's been below freezing temps here and people don't know how to act. The Schools have shut down for days, not because of snow. It was just cold so they cancelled school. The trash people have a clause in their contract that says they don't have to go to work but still get paid for a half day if its below 15 degrees or something so the metro area is flooded with overflowing garbage. The roads are perfectly fine except for the fact that it's cold for us that are used to it always being only mildy cold. I talked to my boss in Chicago today and he was laughing because i told him I had gloves on. It's 30 and sunny here and 27 and windy there. Does he not wear gloves when he goes outside? HMMmmm?
I've enjoyed the cold weather this year. I dunno why but I'm usually the kind of person that like the wood burning fireplace. (wish we had one now) Crystal's sister came to visit on New Years and complained constantly about how cold it was in the house. The electric and gas bills are pleasant compared to last year. We had a $320 gas bill when we moved in. It's colder now than it was back then and our bill is about a third of that. We kinda have to make the cut anyway till Crystal gets her business off the ground.
Anyhow, I am feeling kinda spunky today and can't wait for the American Idol tryouts tonight. I hope they have more FUBARs than actual talent on. The panther audition is one of my all time favorites. I can't wait!!!

Cold? HAHAHAAHAHHAH. I'm sorry. Let me gather myself together. That was rude. :) But I can't help but snicker when folks say they're cold. But deep down I know it's really a matter of what you're used to. For you, that is cold. For another friend of mine, 50 is cold.
Me? In Central NY? Last night's low was -8. Right now? It's 10. Tomorrow? We're having a heat wave, it's supposed to be in the 30's! :)
This is what I love about perspective. It makes for good stories. Maybe I can one-up your "cold" weather, but I'm sure others can one-up NYS.

I just got my third delivery of fuel oil this season $2.85/gal the bill for this delivery was $366. The bills for the other deliveries were smaller, but we still have at least 3 more deliveries this winter. Like hockeygrrrrl, I live in the Northeast, where it's maybe going to be 30 tomorrow. My house is 135 years old. They didn't know squat for insulation back then & I have 36 huge old windows that rattle when the wind blows. BRRRRRRR.
What's with this crazy weather?
All that cold and snow? That is normal for us in the Upper Peninsula (U.P.) of Michigan...we are way up on Lake Superior across from Canada....our average temps. for Jan. is 18 degrees and we get over 250 inches of snow per year or more. This year for some reason, a lot of the snow and cold went south of us.
That American Idol tryout was funny!
I often don't start watching it until after they choose the final 20 because I can't bear to watch people make fools of themselves. ha
I love watching it after they get to the best 20 and start eliminating them one by one after that.
